At the Media and Tourism Research Center, we had the honor of welcoming Professor Elisa Tizzoni (University of Pisa/University of Genoa) to host a seminar on the touristification of WWI Sites in Trentino.
In the lecture, the professor first provided background information on World War I and the historical significance of the Trentino region. This was followed by a discussion on how former battlefields in the region have been transformed into tourist sites. We learned about the role of family histories in preserving war memories and how these narratives contribute to the promotion of peace-oriented tourism. The lecture also covered the achievements and challenges of WWI-related war tourism in Italy.
For the participants, this event provided a valuable opportunity to learn about the touristification of war sites in other countries, making it an insightful experience.
